Describe the purpose of the system | The Model INovation Tool (MINT) will facilitate the intake, tracking, and management of Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) payment and service delivery Innovation Models. MINT will give model teams and stakeholders insight into models and their progress through the intake process. The Innovation Center develops new payment and service delivery models in accordance with the requirements of section 1115A of the Social Security Act. Additionally, Congress has defined – both through the Affordable Care Act and previous legislation – a number of specific demonstrations to be conducted by CMS. |

Provide an overview of the system and describe the information it will collect, maintain (store), or share, either permanently or temporarily. | The system known as Model Innovation Tool (MINT) is a Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI)/Office of Information Technology (OIT) application that will facilitate the workflow for the process of developing new models inside CMMI. The application aims to support internal stakeholders (model teams, assessment teams, leadership, etc.), other components (Center for Medicare - CM, Office of the Actuary - OACT, Office of Enterprise Data and Analytics - OEDA, Office of Financial Management - OFM, Office of Information Technology - OIT) and Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) as they participate throughout the intake and review of new model plans. The goal of the application is to allow these different personas and groups to collaborate throughout the creation phase of new model plans. The system will improve this process by providing help and guidance as well as clear next steps for each group and providing a more transparent, efficient, integrated and unified experience for all parties involved.
