Data Guardian

Supporting security culture at CMS through targeted phishing prevention and awareness activities

Contact: Privacy Office | privacy@cms.hhs.gov

As a Data Guardian, you help your colleagues understand best practices for security and privacy – especially how to spot and avoid phishing attempts. It's your job to educate others within your component so that the next time they receive a suspicious email, they're ready to stop and think before clicking a malicious link.

Working as a team, you oversee phishing awareness campaigns and real-world exercises designed to positively impact security culture at CMS. You then review the data gathered from your efforts and work with other CMS business components to develop future phishing messaging and policies. The end result: a workforce that's prepared for the challenges posed by today’s increasingly sophisticated phishing attempts.

Together, Data Guardians are working to ensure the continued security of CMS sensitive data, which includes the personal and health information of millions of Americans. We are eager to help you get the training, connections, and skills you need to be successful in your role.
